Evren Ozel, piano
Young pianist, Evren Ozel, will make his CSO debut in October performing the ever-popular first concerto by Tchaikovsky. He is represented by Concert Artists Guild, as one of the Ambassador Prize winners of their 2021 Victor Elmaleh Virtual Competition and described as having “daring creativity and fierce passion” through his artistry. He has won numerous honors and awards including scholarships from the U.S Chopin Foundation and Young Arts Foundation, and first prize at the 2016 Boston Symphony Concerto Competition.

Josiah Coe, viola
Josiah Coe, CSO Principal Viola, steps out in front of the orchestra in November to perform Telemann’s Viola Concerto in G Major. He is a founding member of the Edgewood String Quartet and regularly performs with the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Opera, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Believing music should be accessible, he works with organizations such as Atlanta Music Project, Porterville Strings, and Emerald Coast Music Alliance, all of which bring high quality performances and music education to audiences outside of concert halls.

Erica Howard, oboe
CSO Principal Oboe, Erica Howard, returns as guest soloist in January to perform Vaughan Williams’ Oboe Concerto. They have been a member of the CSO since 2011 and served as Principal Oboe since 2014. Erica is a Visiting Lecturer at Cornell University and previously was an adjunct music faculty member at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. They are also Principal Oboe of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra and play English horn with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. They also regularly perform with a number of other ensembles, including the Atlanta Symphony, Atlanta Opera, Chattanooga Symphony, and Cayuga Chamber Orchestra.

Stella Chen, violin
Award-winning violinist Stella Chen joins the CSO in March to perform Corigliano’s music composed for the film The Red Violin. The recipient of a 2020 Avery Fisher Career Grant and 2020 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award, she has been lauded for her “phenomenal maturity” and “fresh and spontaneous, yet emotionally profound and intellectually well-structured performance” (The Jerusalem Post). She plays the 'Huggins' 1708 Stradivarius violin on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation, and the 1700 ex-Petri Stradivarius, on generous loan from Dr. Ryuji Ueno and Rare Violins In Consortium, Artists and Benefactors Collaborative.

Claire Huangci, piano
In her return to the stage, perennial CSO audience favorite Claire Huangci will close the season in May with a performance of Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto. Winner of the first prize and the Mozart prize at the 2018 Geza Anda Competition, she is praised for her imaginative piano abilities and poetic interpretation. She continuously captivates audiences with her “radiant virtuosity, artistic sensitivity, keen interactive sense and subtle auditory dramaturgy” (Salzburger Nachrichten).
